Terms of Service

Please read these terms carefully before using DepositShield. By using our service, you agree to be bound by these terms.

Last updated: 8 March 2026

1. Service Description

DepositShield is an AI-powered document preparation service that helps UK tenants create dispute letters and supporting documents for tenancy deposit disputes. Our service uses artificial intelligence to generate personalised letters based on the information you provide about your tenancy and dispute.

DepositShield is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. The letters and documents we generate are tools to assist you in your dispute. They do not constitute legal advice, legal representation, or a solicitor-client relationship. If you require legal advice, you should consult a qualified solicitor or seek help from Citizens Advice or a similar organisation.

2. Eligibility

To use DepositShield, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be a resident of the United Kingdom (our service is designed specifically for the UK legal framework governing tenancy deposits).
  • Provide accurate and truthful information about your tenancy and dispute.

3. Account Responsibilities

When you create an account with DepositShield (via email/password or Google OAuth), you are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the security of your account credentials. Do not share your password with anyone.
  • All activity that occurs under your account, whether or not you authorised it.
  • Notifying us immediately at support@avantware.uk if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
  • Ensuring that the information you provide is accurate, complete, and up to date.

4. Payment Terms

DepositShield offers one-time payment products:

  • Single Letter — £4.99 (one-time payment)
  • Full Dispute Pack — £9.99 (one-time payment)

All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your card details. Prices are inclusive of VAT where applicable.

Refund policy: Once a letter or dispute pack has been generated and delivered to your account, the payment is non-refundable. This is because the AI generation process has already been completed and the digital content delivered. If you experience a technical issue that prevents you from receiving your generated documents, please contact us and we will resolve the issue or provide a refund.

5. Intellectual Property

Your generated letters belong to you. Once a dispute letter or document pack has been generated and paid for, you own the content and may use it freely for your deposit dispute, including sending it to your landlord, letting agent, or deposit protection scheme.

The DepositShield brand, website design, underlying code, AI prompts, and all other intellectual property related to the service remain the property of Avantware. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the DepositShield platform.

6. Disclaimer

This is an important section. Please read it carefully:

  • DepositShield is not a law firm and is not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority or any legal regulatory body.
  • Our service provides document preparation, not legal advice. The generated letters are based on general principles of UK tenancy deposit law and the specific details you provide.
  • We do not guarantee any outcome from using our letters. The success of your deposit dispute depends on many factors including the merits of your case, the evidence available, and the decisions of the deposit protection scheme or court.
  • The AI-generated content is produced based on the information you supply. If you provide inaccurate or incomplete information, the generated letters may not be appropriate for your situation.
  • You are responsible for reviewing all generated documents before sending them. We recommend checking the content for accuracy and relevance to your specific circumstances.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • DepositShield and Avantware shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service.
  • Our total liability to you for any claim arising from or related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific product giving rise to the claim.
  • We are not liable for the outcome of any deposit dispute, court case, or alternative dispute resolution process.
  • We are not liable for any loss or damage resulting from reliance on the content of generated letters without independent legal advice.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by English law.

8. Acceptable Use

You agree to use DepositShield only for lawful purposes. You must not:

  • Use the service to pursue fraudulent disputes or make false claims against a landlord or letting agent.
  • Provide deliberately false or misleading information to generate dispute letters.
  • Use generated letters for harassment, intimidation, or any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts or data, or interfere with the operation of the service.
  • Resell, redistribute, or commercially exploit generated content on behalf of third parties without our written consent.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe you are using the service in violation of these terms.

9. Termination

You may stop using DepositShield at any time. You can request account deletion by emailing support@avantware.uk.

We may suspend or terminate your account at our discretion if you breach these terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or for any other reason with reasonable notice. If we terminate your account without cause, we will refund any unused purchases where the documents have not yet been generated.

Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases. However, any letters already generated and delivered to you remain yours to use.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you by email.

Your continued use of DepositShield after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree with the revised terms, you should stop using the service.
